WHO WE ARE

AHOY is a Ghana-based and Africa-focused youth inspired non-profit organisation. Like its literal meaning, ‘ahoy’ is a call to find sustainable solutions to the myriad problems facing young Africans. It is our bond to engage, develop, and empower the African youth who will be educated, entrepreneurial, skills-oriented, and innovative and decently working to achieve ‘The Africa We Want.’ The Africa we want is a transformed continent built through the realisation and reliance on the full potentials of the youth for shared prosperity and unity. We work within institutional and legal frameworks of the continent and the countries we are present in, guided by our core principles of active advocacy; holistic development; optimistic outlook; and youth-inspired projects to deliver the human capital for Africa’s transformation.

Our objectives are:

to research relevant issues that relate to the youth and other marginalized groups
to plan and execute youth development programs
advocacy on issues that pertain to the well-being and proper social orientation of the youth
training and capacity building for youth-led businesses in Africa grounded in empirical market data and evidence

Our vision of engaging, developing, and empowering the youth of Africa drives us to embrace vibrant and productive strategies of stakeholder engagement and the development of partner relationships for the advancement of the youth.

Holistic Development

We go the extra mile to ensure that our programmes and projects totally transform the lives of young people on the continent. We believe it’s the transformed youth that can transform Africa. Emotional growth, enhanced social interactions and a strong body are embedded outcomes of the youth programmes and projects we deliver.

Optimistic Outlook

We have the conviction that our programmes and projects will transform the continent. We identify and develop young people to lead the next generation of Africans; young leaders who secure and multiply the resources at their disposal and turn them into productive ventures.

Youth-inspired

We believe that most of Africa’s problems are systemic and have far-reaching tentacles. We must fall on Africa’s young to bring generational change and empower them to chart a better course for the continent. The agenda to transform the continent must be carried out on the shoulders of its youth, and that is what inspires us at AHOY.
